$800,000 per Vehicle[/align]
The M270 Carnivora, named after an order that contains over 260 placental mammals, is an infantry fighting vehicle that is designed to be cheaper than other IFVs as well as more self sufficient.
Tough Conditions
The M270 Carnivora was designed from the start to be used under Noobvakian conditions. This means long missions over rugged and variable terrain where it can expect little maintenance. It also has to be able to carry it's own supplies, spares and a reasonable complement of soldiers. Over the seventeen years that the Carnivora has been serving with the Noobvakian Colonial Army it has meet all of these demands. The power pack is a six-cylender diesel engine located at the left rear of the vehicle, it provides the M270 Carnivora with the power needed to cross over all manner of harsh terrain and push the vehicle through dense bush.
All Terrain Vehicle
The Carnivora is a true all terrain vehicle. It rarely has to cross over water obstacles under Noobvakian conditions, but if it does the Carnivora can ford water up to 1.2 metres in depth. From his central position the drive has excellent vision through three large bullet proof windscreens. These can be covered by armoured shields if there is any serious shooting in progress, the driver of the Carnivora then uses periscopes. The Carnivora has a automatic gear box and the vehicle is easy to drive.
Protection
The driver has his own roof hatch but he can also enter or leave his position from within the vehicle, so if he his wounded he can be replaced without anyone having to leave the shelter of the armoured hull. The hull is designed to be proof against the effects of landmines, any that detonate underneath the vehicle will hopefully only blow off a whell and rarely penetrate the armour, which has been designed to withstand anti-tank mines. If a Carnivora is damaged during an operation it does not have to be left behind, every Carnivora can be fitted with a small crane jib or tow bar at the rear allowing the vehicle to tow damaged vehicles out of action.
Hydraulic Doors
The hull has doors at the left and rear, operated by hydraulics to ensure that they open and close at most vehicle angles. There are also several roof hatches including four large ones that allow passengers to exit via the roof easily. The Carnivora can carry up to 11 fully armed and equipped including a driver.
Armed to Kill
The Carnivora has a two man turret, this houses the main armament, a modified 20x139mm modele F2 gun, as well as a co-axial 7.62x51mm NATO FN MAG 60.40. On the outside of the turret are two missile pods, each house two Ingwe ATGMs. There are three firing ports on each side of the Carnivora allowing the occupants to fire their rifles without having to leave the vehicle. Another GPMG can be mounted on the hatch at the rear of the vehicle but this is not included.
Equipment
Two drinking water tanks are fitted as standard and each vehicle carries a small cooking stove, a comprehensive tool kit, a tow bar, cables and spare parts. This emphasis on self sufficiency allows the Carnivora to operate far away from friendly bases. This self sufficiency does come at a cost, the interior is more crowded and cramped than other IFVs.
